After the surgery on Thursday Navas was discharged early friday afternoon from the hostipal and he said;
“I am calm and eager to recover and to return soon. The doctor has said that I’ll be out for six weeks but we know how these things work, so you have to be quiet and be cautious.”
Jesús Navas will resume training in around six weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle this Thursday. He underwent surgery to “clean” his ankle and remove fragments of bone from around the joint.
The head of the club’s medical staff Dr Juan Ribas said, “We hope that he’ll be able to train fully in six weeks, but with this player the recovery time is often reduced thanks to his physical attributes and his desire.”
Navas sustained the injury in Sevilla’s 1-0 defeat at home to Paris Saint-Germain in the Europa League in mid-September.
As you know Navas has been suffering with an ankle injury since September and to overcome the injury he’ll have to undergo arthroscopic surgery possibly this Thursday. Depending on the result of the surgery he will be ruled out for up to six weeks.

On Monday (18th October), Jesús Navas received an emotional tribute at the headquarters of the Peña Sevilla Los Palacios in his hometown. He was named “Seville Player of the Year” and was given a gold badge with the logo “Peña Sevillista Los Palacios”.
The World Cup win in South Africa have helped the granting of the award but it was just another title added to the virtues and attitudes demonstrated by Navas earlier and that made him deserving of this award.
This tribute has taken place to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the association and President of the Association, Jose Troncoso, said: “Navas, Sevilla Player Year, has rightly come here today to commemorate 50 years of the association” and also thanked the effort demonstrated by the attendance of Navas and his family, who was accompanied by his girlfriend and his parents, since a few days ago his grandfather passed away.
Navas in a brief speech, thanked them for remembering him as a person of the year and giving him the gold badge, and he also thanked the neighbours of his hometown.
An update on his injury: He revisited his Doctor yesterday to examine the left ankle which has prevented him from being 100%, probably due to the sesamoid bone above the ankle being affected by the movement, because he hasn’t had any problems with his ligaments. Navas will be out of training or playing for at least 10 more days.
It was just last Thursday that del Bosque named the squad for the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Lithuania and Scotland. But this weekend only brought bad news to the Spanish coach as three players named for the squad got injured or is still recovering from injuries.
Torres suffered a groin strain yesterday during the Liverpool vs Blackpool game while Pedro suffered a muscle strain in his left calf during Barcelona vs Mallorca. Navas who was out for two weeks after suffering a muscle injury is still recovering and said to be in a lot of pain.
As for the other players who were left out of the squad Raul Albiol who was injured with an ankle injury was back to training with Real Madrid this week. Cesc, who suffered a hamstring injury keeps us updated about his injury via twitter but he will be out for up to three weeks. Xavi who’s being playing in pain for weeks has finally taken a few days off to recover from his Achilles tendon.
Del Bosque will announce the substitutions to the initial list soon.
Torres was substituted after getting injured only 10 minutes in to the match against Blackpool at Anfield today. He could fall off the list of Lithuania and Scotland Euro 2012 Qualifiers along with Navas who is still recovering from injury but was named in the squad.
Juventus and Chelsea have been linked with Navas, while Chelsea prepared to offer 20 million Euros for the Spaniard. Latest addition to the “race to sign Navas” is Arsenal offering 25 million Euros.
