The Real Madrid Foundation Gala took place on Thursday night. The event showcased the Club’s profound compromise with society through the activities and exemplary values it focuses on children and the needy. The act also introduced the Alma Awards 2010 and gathered many important sports and institutional personalities like Alfredo di Stefano, Rafa Nadal, Alvaro Uribe, AC Milan Glorie and penitenciary centres.

It was just last Thursday that del Bosque named the squad for the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Lithuania and Scotland. But this weekend only brought bad news to the Spanish coach as three players named for the squad got injured or is still recovering from injuries.
Torres suffered a groin strain yesterday during the Liverpool vs Blackpool game while Pedro suffered a muscle strain in his left calf during Barcelona vs Mallorca. Navas who was out for two weeks after suffering a muscle injury is still recovering and said to be in a lot of pain.
As for the other players who were left out of the squad Raul Albiol who was injured with an ankle injury was back to training with Real Madrid this week. Cesc, who suffered a hamstring injury keeps us updated about his injury via twitter but he will be out for up to three weeks. Xavi who’s being playing in pain for weeks has finally taken a few days off to recover from his Achilles tendon.
Del Bosque will announce the substitutions to the initial list soon.

This is my little observation about Xabi Alosno, just a silly fact which might not have been noticed by Madridista or even other football fans.
He was born on Wednesday, he debuted in the national team on a Wednesday, Champions League final in Istanbul was on a Wednesday when he played for Liverpool, and in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday Jon, his son, was born. Also he signed for Real Madrid on a Wednesday and his debut for Real Sociedad was also on the same day. Baby Ane was also born in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.
3. Christening should a happy and delight news, but several people who joins “Anti-Albelda” decided to boycotting Azahara’s baptism ceremony if Raul Albiol ask Albelda to be her godfather.

Real Madrid’s defense has been hit by more injury problems after center back Raul Albiol hurt his ankle in a preseason game. Albiol severely sprained his left ankle in Madrid’s 1-1 draw at Standard Liege on Tuesday.
The centre-back suffered a “strong strain” on his right ankle, the club have state via their official website, and though the duration of the former Valencia player’s absence is not yet clear, it has been reported by AS that he will be missing for at least a week, putting his participation against Mallorca next weekend in doubt.
