Jesus Navas was named the ‘favorite son’ of his hometown, Los Palacios y Villafranca, and he received the ‘golden pin’ of the town from the mayor, Antonio Maestre.
Navas said he is proud to bear the name of Los Palacios wherever he goes and; “If you don’t have the love of your people you have nothing. I am what I am today thanks to the many people who have helped me, as well as the coaches and my teammates.”

Seville Football Federation honored the World Champions Sergio Ramos, Jesus Navas and Carlos Marchena (who couldn’t attend due to club commitments), by awarding them with a trophy and certificate each for fair play and World Cup achievements on Wednesday in Camas. During the ceremony Sergio was also named the favorite son of Camas.
Sergio Ramos: “I feel very proud. It’s always nice to come home and be with my family and friends and to receive an award like this is a huge honor which fills me with great pride. This is the place where I was born and grew up, I have lived through great moments and it’s great to be with my people and to see everybody happy and smiling, for me that’s priceless.”
Ironically, Sergio received the “fair play” award only 48 hours after this behavior, fresh from certain misconducts and totaling 10 red cards in 175 games. In the federations defense the ceremony was organized before any of these incidents took place and to recognize the players’ achievements in South Africa.
Jesús Navas: “I have wanted to return to action, but I still have strange feeling in the injury. It is still early, and I must wait a further two weeks to see how it progresses.”
The best news is that only two weeks after surgery Navas doesn’t need clutches to walk anymore. He could resume training in two weeks at the same pace as his teammates, but the doctors are cautious. Navas could possibly be available by 18 or 19 December just in time for Real Madrid-Sevilla, although it won’t be the most appropriate game just after recovery, due to the intensity and struggle of a game against Real Madrid.
Happy 25th Birthday Navas! (21/11/2010)
The mayor of Sevilla, Alfredo Sanchez Monteseirín, handed the Andalucian gold medal for football to Jesus Navas for his contributions to the sport both in the Selection and club. It was just after the president of the Andalusian Federation of Football, Eduardo Herrera, presented the World Cup to Monteseirín for the display of the World Cup in Sevilla. Looks like the Argentine president couldn’t keep her eyes off Navas. Who are we kidding? if we were that close to him, we’d be the same no? I love this picture for many reasons. I mean look at Pique at the back giving a death-stare to someone and even from the angle I can tell that Sergio’s expression is all “it’s so fluffy, I’m going to die”.
